Day One - Adelaide to Kangaroo Island (L, D)
Our 4 day Fully Escorted Tour of Kangaroo Island will showcase many of the unforgettable highlights that Kangaroo Island has to offer. This morning Shirley Tamm, your Tour Escort, will meet you when our SeaLink coach picks you up at either your designated city hotel or at the Adelaide Central Bus Station. We travel via the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis where we board the SeaLink Ferry to Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. Highlights today include
- viewing Frenchman’s Rock
- a visit to the historic Maritime & Folk Museum before enjoying lunch at ‘The Penny’ the Penneshaw Hotel, with wonderful views overlooking the ocean.
After lunch we continue onto Cape Willoughby, site of the first lighthouse in SA built in 1852, for a tour of the Lighthouse and Weather Station. Our last visit for the day is to Clifford’s Honey Farm, where their homemade honey ice-cream is always a favourite! We drive on to the idyllic setting of American River where we settle into our accommodation for the next 3 nights at the Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge. Enjoy dinner this evening with our group.
Overnight: Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge, 3 nights
Day Two (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we travel to famous Seal Bay to join a guided beach walk through a wild seal colony that is home to around 600 rare Australian sea lions. Then we enjoy an amazing interactive, educational and highly entertaining display at the ‘Raptor Domain, Birds of Prey’ display. Our lunch today will be enjoyed at the Café at Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery where they manufacture 100% pure Australian Eucalyptus Oil, followed by a guided tour. To complete the day, we travel to the picturesque surroundings of the Bay of Shoals to taste some of their quality wines and admire the distant vistas of the North Cape. Tonight, we enjoy dinner with our group.
Day Three (B, L, D)
This morning after breakfast we visit the township of Kingscote for a tour of the town and some free time to explore the main street or take a walk along the esplanade before our delicious lunch at Café Scrumptious. The Café is surrounded by a well-stocked nursery hosting a cosy, eclectic stone cottage cafe where we can indulge in the sweet smell of fresh native flowers.
After lunch there's time to browse the beautiful nursery gardens on the banks of the Cygnet River before we make our way to the western end of the island to Flinders Chase National Park.
We travel through the natural rugged beauty of the park to spectacular Remarkable Rocks before heading to Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, built in 1906 and then visit the natural land bridge known as Admirals Arch where we will see Long-nosed Fur Seals. Enjoy a farewell dinner tonight at the hotel.
Day Four (B)
After breakfast, we depart American River with a scenic drive to Penneshaw to board the ferry across to Cape Jervis. From Cape Jervis we travel across the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula and see some spectacular coastal views as we arrive at Victor Harbor with some free time to explore this pretty town. Next, we drive to Horseshoe Bay Lookout to see stunning views over the ocean’s wide vista. Our tour continues back into Adelaide via the picturesque Southern Vales with a short stop in McLaren Vale. We arrive back in Adelaide this afternoon having made wonderful new friendships and full of great memories of our Kangaroo Island experience.
