A Flinders Ranges Odysseys guide will pick you up from your hotel at 7.30am in a luxury 4WD to commence your 3-day tour into the majestic Flinders Ranges. Sit back, relax and take in the beautiful landscape as your guide drives through the mid-north region of South Australia stopping at the old copper mining town of Burra for morning tea and then Orroroo for lunch. Enjoy the view of Mount Remarkable as you head to the historic towns of Wilmington and Quorn.
The majestic Flinders Ranges come into view as you get closer to the small outback town of Hawker. On the way, stop at Kanyaka Station Homestead Ruins and see what’s left of this once massive sheep and cattle station of about 950 square kilometres before arriving at Rawnsley Park Station, your home for the next two nights.
Rawnsley Park Station overlooks the southern side of Wilpena Pound and provides the perfect base for exploring the Flinders Ranges.
In the late afternoon, you will enjoy a Sunset on the Chace tour where you’ll watch the stunning sunset reflect on the Chace Range as you sip on local wine and enjoy delicious canapes. The 40-minute drive through the property provides a great opportunity to see native wildlife. Finish your day with a delicious 2-course dinner in the Woolshed Restaurant, an authentic Australian woolshed converted into a restaurant serving delicious Modern Australian cuisine.
Overnight: Rawnsley Park Station, 2 nights.
Early this morning you can take a 30-minute scenic flight with Chinta Air, to gain an appreciation of the sheer scale and beauty of Wilpena Pound and the Heysen Range (an additional cost but well worth the bird's eye view – this can be pre-booked, or your guide can arrange it on the day). Spend the rest of the day touring around the southern Flinders Ranges including the local sights, picturesque Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges and peaceful walks taking through the creek beds.
Stop at the Prairie Hotel, recognised as an 'unmissable outback experience' and enjoy one of their signature antipasto platters for lunch, before taking the Moralana Scenic drive back to Rawnsley Park.
This evening join a tour of the old woolshed and enjoy a 3-course food experience where local lamb from the property will be prepared in three different and delicious courses, with Clare Valley wines matched with each course. The dinner will finish with South Australian port and local cheeses (vegetarians can be catered for).
This morning farewell your hosts at Rawsley Park Station and head to Melrose, where you will enjoy morning tea with views of Mt Remarkable.
Continue your journey through to the charmingly secluded Clare Valley, one of Australia’s oldest wine-growing regions. With its picturesque, rolling countryside, unique geography, and climate you will see why it is a premium grape-growing area. Here you will enjoy a wine tasting and lunch at Paulett Wines before returning to Adelaide.
Overnight: Majestic Roof Garden Hotel or similar, 2 nights.
Today is a free day and the evening is yours to experience the charm of Adelaide at your leisure. Head to Adelaide Oval, the arts and museum precinct on North Terrace, or a gentle boat ride down the Torrens River.
An early morning pick up from your Adelaide hotel takes you on the scenic coach journey through the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula with its vineyards, coastal views and rolling hills on your way to Cape Jervis. On arrival, board the SeaLink Kangaroo Island ferry for the 45-minute crossing to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island.
On arrival at Penneshaw, you will be met by your experienced local guide who will take you on your island nature experience beginning with an introduction to Kangaroo Island. Tour through several island habitats and see an abundance of wildlife in their natural environments. Kangaroo Island is a haven for Australian wildlife, which exists in its natural habitat without the threat of introduced predators.
At the spectacular Seal Bay Conservation Park, your guide will escort you on a memorable walk along the beach. With your guide you can stand at a safe distance to these wonderful, endangered creatures and hear them sigh and watch them at play. This is a truly unforgettable experience — one that you will treasure forever.
Enjoy a delicious gourmet picnic style lunch with South Australian wine followed by a bushwalk or a stroll along the beach. Travel through the island’s interior keeping an eye out for koalas and echidnas. Listen for Australia’s rarest cockatoo, the Kangaroo Island glossy black cockatoo and watch out for the Tammar wallaby, with its small fine features, in its natural habitat.
Later in the afternoon, see the kangaroos leave the safety of the bush to begin grazing on the open pastures as you head to your accommodation for the night.
Overnight: Aurora Ozone Hotel
After a hearty breakfast, travel to the western end of the island and discover the Flinders Chase National Park, one of the oldest and most important national parks in South Australia. See the rugged coastline from walks around Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Here you will also travel through the area devastated by the 2020 bushfires and you can see the stunning rejuvenation and resilience of the landscape, vegetation and wildlife with bursts of vibrant colour.
Remarkable Rocks provide great photographic opportunities, and the Admirals Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to reveal the spectacular rock archway, a natural nursery and safe-haven for playful Long-nosed Fur Seals.
A delicious gourmet style picnic lunch with South Australian wine will be served in a secluded bush setting before spotting koalas peacefully existing in their treetop habitat.
By special permit, enter the Kelly Hill Conservation Park to see kangaroos and other native wildlife emerge from the safety of the bush land to graze on the open plains. Your tour concludes at Penneshaw in time for the return SeaLink ferry to the mainland and coach transfer back to Adelaide.
Overnight: Majestic Roof Garden Hotel or similar, 2 nights.

Moor opposite the township of Blanchetown and visit Burk Salter Boutique Winery to enjoy wine tasting at the cellar door.
Today cruise downriver to picturesque Swan Reach - named after the large number of black swans that once thrived in the area. Stretch your legs on a local walking tour to visit the Museum to learn all about the history of the town, before hopping back on board to continue your cruise down to Sunnydale.
Here you will go ashore for the Woolshed Show and visit the Native Wildlife Shelter. Tonight, enjoy a traditional Aussie BBQ with the banks of the mighty Murray as your backdrop.
