Board the Indian Pacific in Sydney and rail to Adelaide where you’ll spend 2 days exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Kangaroo Island. Itinerary

This morning make your way to Sydney for your afternoon departure from Central Station onboard the Indian Pacific. Settle into your comfortable Gold Service cabin, and enjoy the meals, beverages and facilities available to you.

Overnight: Indian Pacific

Today you can take an off train excursion in Broken Hill and visit the famous Australian artist Pro Hart’s gallery, and view a selection of his signature paintings. Alternatively you can head over to the Miner’s Memorial, a unique structure that sits high above Broken Hill offering amazing views of the township. At the end of your day, return to your cabin on the Indian Pacific and continue your journey from Broken Hill to Adelaide. On arrival make your own way to your accommodation.

Today's explorations are a perfect blend of the highlights of this cosmopolitan city, with the quaint and classic Adelaide Hills. A visit to Adelaide is not complete without time visiting the many historic buildings along North Terrace. Stop at the famous St Peter's Cathedral and Adelaide Oval, followed by a visit to the National Wine Centre, where you can buy some morning tea.

After lunch (own cost), head head into the Hills via Mount Lofty Summit, where you can get a birds-eye view looking back over the city out to the ocean. It's the perfect spot to get a selfie with the city views in the background. Stop at the Beerenberg Farm Shop to purchase some of their delicious strawberry farm produce, and enjoy free time to explore the main street of picturesque Hahndorf.

Early this morning you will be head to Cape Jervis to board the ferry to Kangaroo Island.

Visit Seal Bay Conservation Park for a guided beach walk amongst a colony of wild Australian sea lions, before heading to lunch at Vivonne Bay Bistro. In the afternoon head to Flinders Chase National Park to see the iconic Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, and finish at the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park where you will see kangaroos and koalas up close. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your accommodation in Kingscote.

Overnight: Aurora Ozone Hotel

This morning visit Raptor Domain for the fascinating and educational "free flight" presentation of Australian Birds of Prey at Raptor Domain, before continuing on to the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, where you will learn all about the oil extraction process, plus enjoy a delicious lunch. Stop at Clifford's Honey Farm to learn about their range of Ligurian Bee honey products and see a working bee hive. Finish the day at False Cape Wines Cellar Door, where you will enjoy a structured wine tasting before free time in Penneshaw to buy some dinner (own cost), and return to Adelaide on the ferry and coach.

Overnight: Stamford Plaza Adelaide

Around lunch time you will travel from your hotel to Mannum to meet the Murray Princess paddlewheeler. Settle into your cabin before enjoying a delicious dinner as you cruise down the mighty Murray River to your overnight mooring point at Caurnamont.

Overnight: Murray Princess, 4 nights

Enjoy a leisurely morning cruising upriver to Blanchetown where you will go through one of the locks which maintain the flow and levels of water in the Murray River. While the Murray Princess is moored opposite the township of Blanchetown, join a guided tour of the Burk Salter Boutique Winery and its surrounding vineyard. It's the perfect location to relax and indulge in some wine tasting at the cellar door.

Today cruise downriver to picturesque Swan Reach. Take a guided walking tour and visit the Swan Reach Museum, housed in the original school building that was built in 1917. The museum collection consists of documents, photographs and historical items relating to the history of education and society in the river and rural communities of South Australia. After the tour, continue to cruise downriver to Sunnydale, where you will go ashore to enjoy the Woolshed Show and visit the Native Wildlife Shelter.

Learn all about the Australian woolshed history, and meet some interesting native animals. Tonight you'll enjoy a great Aussie BBQ set on the banks of the mighty Murray.

This morning you have the option to tantalise your tastebuds with a Bush Tucker Breakfast. Savour the taste of kangaroo sausages, wattleseed toast or pancakes, lemon myrtle butter, quandong jam and real billy tea! Or join a bushwalk with the Captain to stretch your legs and enjoy exploring the banks of the Murray up close. Hop back on board to continue downriver past the magnificent cliffs scoured by the Murray River over millions of years.

At Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve the boardwalk tour will take you amongst ancient rock carvings where you will learn about Aboriginal history in the area. This evening join your fellow passengers for a delicious final night dinner and enjoy the evening entertainment.

On this final day you'll cruise back to Mannum, disembark after breakfast before heading back to Adelaide.
