Adelaide and the Mighty Murray

On arrival in Adelaide make your own way to your accommodation. Spend the day exploring this amazing city and the shopping precincts at your leisure.

Overnight: Stamford Plaza Adelaide

This morning is free to take in some shopping or sightseeing around the city.

After lunch (own expense) you will be collected from your hotel to travel to Mannum. Here you will meet the friendly team on the beautiful Murray Princess. Settle into your comfortable outside cabin before enjoying a delicious dinner as you cruise to your overnight mooring point at Mundarra.

Overnight: Murray Princess, 3 nights

After a hearty breakfast, choose to join a guided tour of the town’s historic landmarks and local attractions or go on a wildlife tour at Monarto Safari Park (additional cost). Those who choose to experience Monarto Safari Park will arrive back on board the Murray Princess in time for lunch. This afternoon, continue your journey upriver and tonight moor at Salt Bush Flat. After dinner, enjoy being entertained by the talented crew.

This morning, join a guided nature walk and learn the secrets of the local flora and fauna. It’s a great way to get in a little exercise before the Murray Princess departs and cruises downriver. Near Fromms Landing, the boat turns and heads downriver to River View Lodge (near Piggy Flat / Coolcha) where your discovery vessel awaits for a wildlife tour.

Travelling in small personalised group, explore the maze of the river and the birdlife is amazing. Watch for darters, herons and egrets feeding along the river’s muddy edges.

The afternoon offers a choice of bocce or fishing challenges before a delicious dinner in the Sturt Dining Room followed by an evening of entertainment.

Head back to Mannum and after breakfast you may choose to join the tour to the famous Barossa, the beautiful ‘Valley of the Vine’ and the source of approximately a quarter of Australia’s world-renowned wines (additional cost). You will visit Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre, Seppeltsfield, and enjoy a 2 course lunch at Lambert Estate where you’ll have time to take in the views of this popular vineyard.

Travel through the picturesque Eden Valley on your return to the Murray Princess at Mannum, where you will be transferred back to Adelaide.

Alternatively, you can take the morning transfer back to Adelaide, and enjoy your day at leisure, once arriving at your hotel.

Overnight: Stamford Plaza Adelaide, 2 nights

Today you'll head south to McLaren Vale to explore one of Australia’s oldest and most acclaimed wine regions. A highlight of today will be your visit to the unique d’Arenberg Cube. Nestled amongst the vineyards, this 5 level 'Rubik's cube' has been carefully designed to entice and excite the senses. From the Alternate Realities Museum to the many art installations on display, there is so much to see and experience while you are here. Join a tour of the Museum followed by a formal tasting on Level 4.

Next head to Chalk Hill Wines, where you will enjoy an Italian style share lunch and wine pairing experience hosted by Chalk Hill Wines and Cucina Di Strada.

After this, visit Beresford Wines, where you can choose from either a beer, gin or wine tasting experience in their brand new Tasting Pavilion.

The final cellar door you'll explore is Wirra Wirra Vineyards, located amongst the gum trees in the historic ironstone cellars. Enjoy a short tour of the cellars plus a structured tasting of their range of quality wines, before returning to Adelaide.

This morning, there's time for any last-minute shopping or sightseeing before you depart Adelaide.
